Stampin Sisters in Christ

Good morning! Thank you for joing us for another amazing challenge at Stampin Sisters in Christ! I'm so delighted that you've chosen to stop by my blog today! Hope you enjoy!

Challenge deets:
Amazing Hostess: The Lovely Candace
Scripture: Psalm 118:6 "The Lor is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?"
Challenge: Do something on your card that you're "afraid" of! For example, CAS style, stitching, a vintage look, etc. Just do something you wouldn't normally do!

Wow, talk about challenging! ;) This challenge is one to really get you out of your comfort zone, maybe try something you've wanted to, but haven't been willing to risk yet. For me, this challenge meant making a more "decorated" card and making my own flowers. I LOVE shabby chic flowers and I'm "cheap" so I don't like to spend the money for them! lol So....I made my own! I found an amazingly easy tutorial here to make them. I had a great time doing this! There are a few things I might do differently next time, but I'm for sure making these again! I was so nervous about making them, but I think they turned out ok. I also used the "dot" technique to make shading around my image and sentiments with one of my copic markers. I used a nestabilities that I loved and purchased, but haven't used it because I couldn't quite seem to get it to work right on anything. One more thing....I didn't use one single drop of stickles!!! This is insane for me! I usually have everything so glittered up, but this time I wanted it different. Hope you enjoy my card and be sure to join our challenge this week! Don't be afraid!

Have a blessed week! ~H

Fabulous, Helen! Your flowers turned out so well and they are perfect for this card. I love making paper flowers. And I'm so intrigued by your "dots" to shade your image. I haven't seen it and I really like it. I need to look at a good Copic technique site to keep up with what's new. I need a refresher course! Love your project, sweet sister! Have a fearless week! :) Diane

Hi Helen! Adorable card! Love your hand-made flowers...they turned out SO nice! And the dot technique too! I haven't tried that yet but you've inspired me! NO STICKLES?! I did the very same thing! I usually use a lot of Stickles but said NO to myself this time! Aren't we brave!?
Have a blessed week, Sister!

Such cute flowers, you did a fabulous job! I love the image you paired up with to too, and it is a reminder to me that I so seldom use yellow. I'm going to have to pull it out. Wishing you a blessed week!

Love your handmade flowers Helen!! ANd your image is really cute. I love using that dotty technique for highlighting/shading too but I always tend to use too dark of colors. Yours is just perfect!! Have a wonderful Memorial Day and rest of your week *Ü*
Hugs, kris

Great flowers! I am cheap too and love the way you made those. Your coloring is beautiful and I love the stitching (I do not do stitching often). Great card - have a wonderful week.

Sweet image, and I love how your flowers turned out. :) I may have to try making my own instead of fussing over finding the perfect color to match my DP all the time. :) Thanks for your wonderful ideas. Hugs, Kelly
