Stampin Sisters in Christ

Good morning! Thank you for joing us for another amazing challenge at Stampin Sisters in Christ! I'm so delighted that you've chosen to stop by my blog today! Hope you enjoy!

Challenge deets:
Amazing Hostess: The Lovely Candace
Scripture: Psalm 118:6 "The Lor is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?"
Challenge: Do something on your card that you're "afraid" of! For example, CAS style, stitching, a vintage look, etc. Just do something you wouldn't normally do!

Wow, talk about challenging! ;) This challenge is one to really get you out of your comfort zone, maybe try something you've wanted to, but haven't been willing to risk yet. For me, this challenge meant making a more "decorated" card and making my own flowers. I LOVE shabby chic flowers and I'm "cheap" so I don't like to spend the money for them! lol So....I made my own! I found an amazingly easy tutorial here to make them. I had a great time doing this! There are a few things I might do differently next time, but I'm for sure making these again! I was so nervous about making them, but I think they turned out ok. I also used the "dot" technique to make shading around my image and sentiments with one of my copic markers. I used a nestabilities that I loved and purchased, but haven't used it because I couldn't quite seem to get it to work right on anything. One more thing....I didn't use one single drop of stickles!!! This is insane for me! I usually have everything so glittered up, but this time I wanted it different. Hope you enjoy my card and be sure to join our challenge this week! Don't be afraid!

Have a blessed week! ~H

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge

Good morning and happy Sunday to you! It's time for another Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge!

Are you ready????
Our hostess today is is the lovely Traci and her challenge is to "build up your card: by adding layers, paper tole, paper piecing, stacking flowers...you name it!"

Our verse for inspiration is Ephesians 4:29 " Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Our sponsor this week is Tami Mayberry. Don't forget to stop by her blog and let her know how much you appreciate her sponsoring our SSiC challenge this week!

I wanted to get a true meaning of "paper tole" and the definition from stampin.com is this: "Paper tole is an art technique in which part or all of an image is raised from the surface to give a 3 dimensional effect which enhances the natural shape of the image." I had been asked by a friend to make card using this florally fross image she found and I thought it would be perfect for this challenge!

Here is the full card, face front:

Now, here's the "paper tole" part, the view from the side:

See how the tulips are raised one level and the lillies are raised 2 levels? IRL it looks really cool!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! May your week be greatly blessed!

Bridal Shower Invitations

Some of you might know that I also love creating things on the computer, such as invitations, candy bar wrappers, water bottle wrappers, etc. It's too much fun! So, today, I thought I'd share with you the most recent Bridal Shower Invitations I created. They are for one that I'm hosting and I think they are so adorable! We've decided to go with a zebra print theme and everything is just falling into place for this shower. I'm so excited and can't wait to get the banner made this week-end! Oh, sometimes in the photograph, the words get a bit blurry. Not sure why, but when we print them, they are fine.
Well, here ya go! Enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day!

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day! I hope you've had a blessed morning so far!

Welcome to week 2 of my DT term on the Stampin Sisters in Christ Blog! I'm having a ton of fun so far! I feel so blessed with each bit of interaction I can get with these amazing ladies!

This week our challenge is being hosted by our awesome Peggysue!
The verse she chose to use is:
Genesis 5:20 "Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive."

Peggysue's challenge is for us to use any type of animal, bird or bug in our creation.

Our sponsor this week is Doodle Pantry. They're giving 3 digital stamps to one random winner on the SSiC blog! They have tons of cute digi stamps! Hop over that way & check them out. Give 'em some love for sponsoring our challenge this week!

I used Doodle Pantry's "Plush Panda" on my card.

(edited to add: I'm also entering this is the Doodle Pantry challenge! You can enter it too, if you're using a Doodle Pantry image!)

Have a wonderfully, blessed week!

Card for Jessica's mom

Hi! Welcome to my blog! I'm so glad you're here! Let me share with you the card I made for my friend, Jessica's mom. She is going through her second round of breast cancer. I hosted a "card drive" at my church for her so the ladies of our church could send cards to Jessica's mom. Jessica is our Youth Pastor's wife. She's such a sweet friend and it was so much fun to do this for her and her mom. The image I used on this card is from McMahon 5 Designs. It is adorable! You can find it here.
If you have a moment, could you please say a prayer for Jessica's mom? It would be greatly appreciated! Hope you enjoyed my card and have a wonderfully blessed day!

Happy Sunday & New Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge!

Good morning friends! Today is a super special day for me because it's my first challenge on the Stampin Sisters in Christ Design Team Spring/Summer 2012! This group of ladies is amazing and I'm so blessed to have been chosen to be a part of their team!
I'm so excited to share with you my first creation on the DT!
Our hostess this week is Miesje and the verse she chose is 1 John 2:4-6 "Whoever says, 'I know him', but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the trugh is not in him. But whoever keeps his word, the love of God is truly perfected in him." She has a wonderful devotion on the SSiC blog, so jump on over there to hear what the Lord has to say through her.
Miesje challened us to create a card or project that uses something real or natural on it - such as twine, burlap, shell, sand, sand, sand, or anything natural. I bet you can't guess what I chose to use, can ya? lol Yep, that's real sand on my creation! It's straight from the Bahamas! Yes, really. We went there on a cruise for our honeymoon and I fell in love with the ocean! I've never been the same since then! I think the ocean and everything about it is God's most beautiful creation!

Sponsoring the SSiC this week is Our Daily Bread Designs. Please be sure to stop by their shop and check out all their wonderful stamps and accessories!
Have a wonderfully blessed Sunday!
